Catholic Women Today
SHE STOOD – A sentry silhouetted against
a blackened sky;
a woman bathed in love keeping a mother’s vigil at the death-bed
of
her only son.
Yet, she stood – the only stance for a woman of courage, conviction
and commitment. Such a woman was Mary, our Mother, and so
she stood.
CATHOLIC WOMEN TODAY –
The vibrant, vital women of the Gospel,
a mighty feminine force. Salt, leaven, grains of mustard seed; women,
challenged by our twenty-first century that dares us to take a stand
against poverty, oppression, abortion, racism and hunger and that dares
us to take a stand for the Gospel, social justice, reconciliation,
integrity in government and peace; women challenged by a searching
age that dares us to take a stance – the only stance for women of
courage, conviction and commitment, and so inspired by Mary,
we stand. Amen
