The American Cancer Society held it's 2nd annual Relay For Life at Marshfield High School on June 24th and 25th. St. Christine's Parish was one of 40 teams registered and the event raised over $97,000 to help fund lifesaving research, advocacy efforts, and support services for cancer patients and their families. The Relay For Life was a victory in many ways. We celebrated cancer survivorship and more than 50 survivors and their loved ones walked a victory lap at the relay with blue survivor shirts on. The Luminaria Tribute Ceremony held in honor and in memory of those who have been touched by cancer was emotional for all of us. Candles were placed inside of decorated Luminaria bags bearing the names of those family and friends and the candles were lit at 9p.m. while our St. Christine's Choir sang, "Amazing Grace" and "Surely the Presence". Our Parish response to this event was heartwarming and overwhelming. Over 800 people were honored and remembered from our parish and hundreds of people were involved in walking the 19 hour relay. At the Closing Ceremony it was announced that "St. Christine's Parish Family" team had exceeded $10,000 and won the Gold Team award!! Beyond our wildest expectations! Thank you to all of the people who gave time, energy, prayers, and donations to this most powerful and moving event. See you next year!! Here are a few pictures from the event.
